ABILENE — For the second straight season, District 2-3A rivals Shallowater and Denver City met in the Region I volleyball final — albeit at a different venue this season.
It was also the fourth time the two squads had met in the 2015 season and the end was all too familiar for both sides as Denver City took a 25-23, 17-25, 25-22, 25-16 win at Abilene Christian University’s Moody Coliseum to sweep the season series.
The win sends Denver City to the state tournament for the first time since the 2004 season and avenged last year’s four set loss in the regional final.
