WOLFFORTH — Jarrett Culver scored 31 points to lead Class 5A No. 9 Coronado past Estacado, 77-71, in the Gene Messer Shootout Championship game Saturday.
The cross-town rivals lived up to the shootout namesake with back-and-forth fast-break plays, three-point shots and dunks.
“A whole lot of our offense today was just survival,” Coronado coach Randy Dean said. “We did well against their press but never really got into a rhythm. We were able to make big plays and stay out front.”
