After an area round loss to El Paso Eastlake in last year’s playoffs, Lubbock High — which won a combined 29 games the past two seasons — will now be coached by Trent Deans.
The former Sherman girls soccer coach and University of North Texas kicker inherits a team that lost last year’s Lone Star Varsity Player of the Year, A.J. Garza, to graduation.
“I want us to be a little more aggressive in attack,” Deans said. “I did look at the matches and I asked them how many goals they scored. They told me a number and I said, ‘we need to do better.’ Let’s improve the goal scoring.”
