The Monterey boys outlasted Coronado 3-2 in penalty kicks on Tuesday in boys high school soccer.
Hunter Apel scored twice for Monterey, Samuel Klacman and Christian Presley each had assists and Daniel Rodriguez stopped three of four penalty kicks.
The match was tied 2-2 at the end of regulation.
Monterey (4-6-2, 0-0-1) plays its next game at Frenship at 5 p.m. Friday.
