LUBBOCK — Ryan Acebedo drove in three runs with a double and a triple as Coronado built a big early lead and then hung on to beat Amarillo 10-8 Saturday at O’Banion Field, salvaging a split of the two-game District 2-6A opening series.
Coronado starting pitcher Nico Garza took a 10-1 lead to the seventh before Amarillo rallied with four consecutive singles, a walk, a fielder’s choice and a double. Mustangs reliever Creighton Alejandro took the mound with runners at second and third and got the last two outs for a save.
