Newcomer of the year: Miranda Villegas, Fr., Levelland: Villegas, a 5-foot-7 guard, started all 35 games this season and averaged 13.5 points per game in district play and in the postseason. In her first district game against Estacado, she scored 28 points and finished as the District 2-4A Defensive Player of the Year. On the season, she averaged 10 points and 3.1 steals.
