The distance from the track and field awards stand to the home-side bleachers at Lowrey Field makes it close enough for winners to easily hear the cheering from their supporters.
So the several happy birthdays friends and family directed at Raven Woodson made her chuckle and chatter back. Even better for Woodson, she was perched at the top of the awards stand when it took place.
The Coronado sophomore turned 16 on Friday and gifted herself with two gold medals at the Districts 1-6A/2-6A meet — one in the 400 meters and one for anchoring the Lady Mustangs’ 1,600-meter relay.
