The outstanding feature of Denver City’s 2011 volleyball team was a superb tandem of middle blockers in Breann David (Texas Tech) and Shahala Hawkins (Wayland Baptist).
That 39-1 team didn’t match the success of this year’s — a group Fillies coach Megan David calls the most rounded she’s had in her 23 seasons at Denver City.
After beating Shallowater in the Class 3A Region I final in Abilene last week, the Fillies will face Jewett Leon at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Class 3A state semifinals.
