ODESSA — El Paso Jefferson’s Sergio Nava was positioned in front of Lubbock High’s goal in the second half of its match as a deflected shot fell about five feet from the net, and his shot found its mark.
The goal was not the Silver Foxes’ first, but it sealed their win over the Westerners, ending their furthest playoff push in program history.
“Honesty, that was wire-to-wire. We play them 10 times, we win five times they win five times,” Lubbock High coach Trent Deans said. “It’s about who put it in the back of the net today, and they did.”
